Welcome to the Department of Zoology.

Introduction

The Zoology Department of Shivaji Science College has been there ever since its inception. The department has a well-equipped laboratory consisting of all the required utilities to perform practical and research in zoology. The teachers of the Zoology Department play a vital role in promoting the research work in zoology.

The department has newly inserted a postgraduate course and the Centre of Higher Learning and Research recognized by R.T.M. Nagpur University. Presently 5 students are working in the laboratory for their Ph.D. work.

The department received grants from UGC for minor and major projects and completed Major and Minor research projects.

Departmental results are improved in the semester system syllabus, as most of the students has secured above 75% marks in zoology, in university examinations.

Throughout the year the department conducts various activities such as the Nutrition Awareness programme, Healthy Dish Competition, AIDS Awareness Week, poster competitions, study tours, the Earn and Learn Scheme for the needy students, activities of the Environment Cell, animal welfare programs, study tours, etc.

The department organized National and International Conferences on various aspects of science and technology subjects.

All the staff of the department are well qualified and actively engaged in teaching and research activities.

Curiosity of students towards research is increased by arrangements of science exhibitions and field tours.
