ABOUT DEPARTMENT

The Department of Computer Science came into existence with the introduction of Computer Science as one of the optional subjects at B.Sc. level in 1990-91. Post graduation course in Computer Science leading to M.Sc.(C/S) was introduced during the session 1996-97.

An AICTE recognized Three Years Master Degree Programme "Master in Computer Application (MCA)" which was introduced in 1997-98. Add-on Course "Web Technology" was started during the session 2006-07. Three year BCA course was started during the session 2010-11. Research Degree Programme leading to Ph.D. (Computer Science) was introduced in the session 2015-2016.

There are separate computer laboratories for UG and PG courses. Every year, leading companies like L&T InfoTech, TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, Infosys, ATOS Syntel, Persistent, Tech Mahindra and many more visit the Department for the Campus Placement Drive. Many of our Graduate and Postgraduate students are placed in the above mentioned companies that make us feel proud.

• As per AICTE Norms (Any Graduate).

CERTIFICATE COURSE

• Certificate course in Web Technology.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND LEARNING RESOURCES

1.DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY AND READING ROOM

Departmental library is equipped with 215 titles. These books are donated by various book publishers and Teaching staff of the department. Books are made available to the students and staff for reference purposes.

2. LABORATORIES

• Six well equipped air conditioned Computer Laboratories admeasuring 1600 sq. ft. + 1200sq. ft. + 1000 sq. ft. + 1000 Sq. ft. + 1200sq.ft. +200sq.ft. Total carpet area is 6200 sq. ft.
• There are 230 Computers in six laboratories.
• Lab I - 50 Pentium-IV machines connected in network, 4 LaserJet printers, 3 servers, stabilizer and multimedia facility.
• Lab-II - Advanced Computing Center - University Grants Commission identified the Computer Science Department to get the special funds under CPE for the vertical growth of the department - 50 Pentium-IV machines connected in network, 2 LaserJet printers, 2 servers, stabilizer and multimedia facility.
• Lab III - 30 Pentium IV machines connected in network, 1 LaserJet printers, stabilizers and multimedia facility with Leased line.
• Lab IV - 50 Pentium IV machines connected in network, 1 LaserJet printers, stabilizers and multimedia facility with Leased line.
• Lab V - 50 Pentium IV machines connected in network, 1 LaserJet printers, stabilizers and multimedia facility with Leased line.
• Lab Vi - 10 Pentium IV machines connected in network, 1 LaserJet printers, stabilizers and multimedia facility with Leased line.

3. LEASED LINE AND INTERNET

• 20Mbps Leased line is installed.
• 04 Wi-Fi Access Points are installed.
• 01Firewall ‘Cyberoam’ for data protection.
• 04 LCD Projectors with Power Backup.
• Power Backup for all four Laboratories

FEATURES OF THE DEPARTMENT

TEACHING LEARNING AND EVALUATION

• Aptitude test, group discussion and seminars are conducted by the department to assess knowledge / skill of the students.
• Terminal and test examination, surprise tests and unit tests are introduced for continuous evaluation.
• The students are exposed to Industrial tour organized by students under the guidance of teacher.
